Invitation to the White House

A few weeks ago, I received an unexpected email—an invitation to the White House in honor of the Haitian Diaspora. It was a moment of recognition I never imagined so early in my journey, and one that deeply affirmed my commitment to advocacy, cultural preservation, and community empowerment.

Although I wasn’t able to attend due to prior commitments, the invitation itself reminded me of something powerful: doors will open, but we must also be willing and ready to walk through them.

To every young person working toward change, especially within communities like ours that are often overlooked: keep going. Your work matters, and even when you don’t see it immediately, others do.

This moment taught me not only to stay prepared, but also to stay open. Open to God’s timing, open to new possibilities, and open to showing up—even when life feels overwhelming.

We are the future of the diaspora. Let’s continue building bridges that last.

Even missed opportunities can be reminders of how far we’ve come—and how far we’re meant to go.
